Harrison County Arts! seeks proposals for a commissioned theatre work on the life and artistic accomplishment of artist Sidney D. Crosier (1857-1930), a pioneer of the American Impressionist school.
Proposals should include:
a scenario of no more than 1,000 words offering the writer’s vision of the play or theatre piece; a script sample of the proposed work of no more than ten pages; the writer’s resume, including contact information and indications of previous writing or training.
The Proposed Work
The proposed work should be practical enough to be staged annually by a small community theatre group and should be at least 90 minutes in length and performed by multiple performers (no one-person shows, please). We seek a theatre work that is (1) entertaining, (2) truthful and informative, and (3) sympathetic to the artist, kind in its attitude if presenting unhappy aspects of Crosier’s later years. (Reproductions of Crosier’s works as required by selectee will be produced by Harrison County Arts! Inc.)
Commission
A commission of $2500 (plus up to $500 per diem/travel expenses) is offered to the winning proposal, with $1,000 awarded upon acceptance and the balance upon receipt of a satisfactory completed work, as evaluated by the selection committee.
